Recreational Pilot Course
Transport Canada has established the guidelines for the Recreational Pilot Permit. This license is to provide a stepping stone for individuals to the Private License and beyond. It gives you a chance to save $2000 and still hold some of the privileges of a Private Pilot.
Privileges:
Solo when 14 years of age
Licensed at 16 years of age
Fly a single engine land or seaplane
Fly anywhere in Canada day VFR
Restrictions:
No night flying
No flying outside of Canada
Only one person can be carried
No flying high performance aircraft
Training:
25 hours of flying time
40 hours of ground school
Flight test
Write the private pilot written exam

Note:
(1) Ground briefing will be charged at $40.00 per hour
(2) Medical cost approximately $100.00
(3) Flight test will be approximately $150.00
